“Make ‘em laugh”: CineClub returns to the musicals

It’s all about film musicals this week as Billy, Jake, Emily and Adam explore the features of the genre and pick out their favourites.

There are musicals through the decades including Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), Little Shop of Horrors (1986), The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall (2011) Tick Tick Boom (2021) and what appears to be everyone’s favourite Singin’ in the Rain (1952).

The chat covers the performances, storytelling, props, sequences and, of course, the all-important songs.

Our presenters are Billy, Jake, Emily and Adam. The episode was engineered and edited by Emily Main and Rhys Hunter.

Let us know your favourite musical and what would you like to see on the CineClub Podcast in the future by using the email below or sending a message on our Instagram.

This episode was recorded and produced by the CineClub members at the University of Sunderland. Special thanks to our technical team and academic staff.
