Before the Crisis Rethinking Children's Mental Health with Sarah Amedeo
What if, instead of waiting until a child reaches crisis point, we gave them the knowledge and tools to understand themselves much earlier?
In this episode, I’m joined by Sarah Amedeo author of The Solution: A Revolutionary Plan to Eliminate School Shootings, Child Suicide and the Silent Mental Turmoil Destroying Our Kids
Sarah’s work began with her own experiences as a child, bullying, struggling to understand what she was feeling, and believing at one point that she had a “broken brain”. But learning about psychology and human behaviour changed the way she understood herself, other people, and the world around her.
Today, Sarah is asking an important question: are we too reactive when it comes to children’s mental health?
We talk about breaking generational patterns, emotional intelligence, bullying, technology, the role of parents, and why teaching children how to understand their thoughts, emotions and behaviour could help us move from crisis intervention towards prevention.
It’s a conversation about what might change if, rather than waiting for children to struggle, we started teaching them how to understand what it means to be human.
