The Start of a New Era | Matthew 27:51-28:20

This final message in Matthew wraps the series by showing how Jesus’ death, resurrection, and Great Commission mark the end of one age and the beginning of another. Saint K traces the temple curtain, the raised saints, Joseph of Arimathea, the sealed tomb, and the resurrection all the way to Jesus’ closing promise: “I am with you always.”He also reflects on the three-year Matthew series itself, what was learned, and how this passage ties together the whole Bible through covenant, resurrection, and new creation.Key frameworks

First era / second era

First fruits resurrection

Disciple-making over mere conversion

Action items

Rest and meditate on God’s justice when evil seems to be winning.

Speak about Jesus with confidence in ordinary and hostile settings.

Aim to make disciples through teaching, baptism, and ongoing obedience.

Let doubts be brought near to Christ rather than hiding them.

Read Matthew’s resurrection ending alongside the opening Emmanuel theme for the full bookends.
