New Generation Warfare and Strategic Deterrence

Henry Sokolski analyzes potential U.S. military deployment of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast non-nuclear bomb against Iranian targets, emphasizing Vice Admiral Brad Cooper’s focus on proportionality and counterforce precision. He explores Russian New Generation Warfare, which prioritizes psychological dominance, asymmetric leverage, grey-zone tactics, and maritime or undersea communications cable disruptions over kinetic strikes. Sokolski also evaluates Iranian fee proposals for undersea cable passage and assesses nuclear deterrence and global nuclear abolitionist treaty debates. (7)
