Papal Recovery and Italian Industrial Challenges

Lorenzo Fiori provides an update on the Pope’s successful hospital surgery and expected return to work, including scheduled travel to South America. He then analyzes the complex industrial crisis facing Italian steel manufacturing, focusing on plants in Taranto and Genoa. Fiori explains how high gas-linked energy costs, strict European environmental regulations, and mandatory decarbonization transitions create severe economic hurdles. Finally, he shares a regional culinary recipe featuring short pasta, saffron, speck, and Gewürztraminer wine. (4)
