Episode 69: Making Room for Hope

Episode 69: Making Room for Hope8 oct13 min

Hope can be difficult when you’ve experienced significant loss. Sometimes, looking toward the future feels risky. We know what we’ve lost, we miss what we had, and we may be afraid to dream again.

But what if hope isn’t about forgetting?

In this episode, I’m reflecting on what it means to make room for hope while still honoring the people we love, the memories we carry, and the grief that remains. Hope doesn’t require us to move on, replace what we’ve lost, or pretend we’re okay. It invites us to trust God with the life we have now.

I don’t know what tomorrow holds. I can’t predict what God will do, and I don’t need to manufacture excitement about the future. But I can ask a different question: “Father, what might You still do with the life I have?”

Maybe hope begins there—not with a five-year plan or a promise that everything will be wonderful, but with a willingness to leave a little room for God to surprise us.

You don’t have to force hope. Sometimes it’s just a small opening where a little light gets through.

Hope isn’t forgetting. It’s making room for what God may still do.

Find more about me at https://jaycookingham.com

I’m on @buymeacoffee.
