Hypothalamic Amenorrhea Part 4: I Got My Period Back… Then Life Took an Unexpected Turn

What happens after you get your period back?

For years, I thought that getting my period back would be the end of the story.

After years of a missing period, fertility struggles, being told I had PCOS, and eventually discovering that hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA) was behind my absent cycle, getting my period back felt like the finish line.

But it wasn't.

This is Part 4 — the final chapter of my hypothalamic amenorrhea story.

In this episode, I share what happened after period recovery: becoming a mother, struggling with postpartum anxiety and control, navigating my husband's devastating diagnosis, and eventually finding myself on a much deeper spiritual and personal path.

Looking back, I can see that my HA recovery prepared me for much more than having a menstrual cycle.

It taught me how to:

• Nourish myself even when life feels uncertain
• Stop trying to control every outcome
• Listen to my body instead of constantly overriding it
• Build self-trust
• Tolerate uncertainty and difficult seasons
• Let go of perfectionism
• Live my life instead of waiting for the next thing to happen

Your period is a goal. Your fertility may be a goal. But neither one has to become the thing your entire life revolves around.

Because sometimes period recovery itself can become another project for the Type A, high-achieving woman.

Another thing to perfect.
Another thing to monitor.
Another thing that has to happen before you can finally feel okay.

But what if the deeper work is learning how to live fully while you're waiting?

That's the work I now bring into Recipe for a Period® — not just helping women eat more, exercise less, and get their periods back, but helping them build the self-trust and flexibility to actually live differently.

If you're struggling with a missing period or hypothalamic amenorrhea, I hope this four-part story gives you a glimpse into what recovery can really look like — and what can become possible on the other side.

START HERE:

If you haven't listened to parts 1-3 of my HA story, go back and listen to those first: Part 1, Part 2, and <a href="https://open.spotify.com/episode/2d
