The Horror at Hopetown
The Horror at Hopetown
"Throughout the centuries, the Hopewell Earthworks have been largely ignored. Indians who encountered the earthworks 300 years ago did not know what they were. When the white settlers came in the 1800s, they looked at the earthworks in amazement, then plowed them under. Many now sit under fields, roadbeds, railroad tracks, buildings, and even old army barracks. Only a dozen or so in Ohio have been preserved." - Rich Henson - The Akron Beach Journal 07/07/1986 Send us a message!
