Whitby Man Arrested And Charged Under Bill C-9 | Should YOU Open the Door When Police Knock?

On September 23, 2026, Durham Regional Police arrested and charged a 57-year-old Whitby man, Sean Farro, with Offence Motivated by Hatred – Uttering Threats and Incite Hatred in Public Place over a post on his Facebook page. Police haven't said exactly what he posted, but CTV and CP24 report it was an image advertising a "hunting permit" against Muslims in North America, captioned "I suggest everyone register now."

So did that post meet the legal threshold? How does a Facebook profile become a "public place" under the Criminal Code? And with Bill C-9 now law, how many more Canadians will get a knock at the door over something they said online?

That brings us to the question every Canadian should be asking: should you answer the door when police come knocking?

To answer it, I sat down with constitutional lawyer Leighton Grey and Actions4Canada founder Tanya Gaw, whose viral encounter with two RCMP constables at her door was viewed by millions. We cover:

✅ The limits of police authority at your door

✅ When you can legally tell police to leave

✅ Whether what you say can be used against you

✅ Why you should record any interaction

✅ Why "the process is the punishment"

Sean Farro has been charged, not convicted. The allegations have not been proven in court.

My previous interview with Tanya Gaw: https://youtube.com/live/0INvC9g8SNc

This video is for informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice.

💲Support my work by donating right here on YouTube or buy me a coffee 👉 https://buymeacoffee.com/nicolagan

🔥 LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and CLICK THAT BELL to support independent media that doesn't take government handouts.
