We Think We Make Em' Better Than They Used To - Ball And Buck Nashville
What happens when a brand believes the things we use should carry stories, not just wear out?
Jason and Bradford take Two Guys On A Porch on the road for a field-trip edition from the brand-new Ball and Buck flagship store in Nashville, Tennessee, with founder Mark Bollman IV.
Ball and Buck is built around a simple idea: make things well enough that they become part of your story. Heirloom-grade clothing and gear, rooted in generations of American sporting tradition, designed to perform in the field, look just as good back in town, and someday be handed down with a few stories attached.
Mark shares how time spent hunting with his grandfather—and a jacket passed down through his family—helped shape a brand focused on craftsmanship, durability and preserving the sporting lifestyle. As he puts it, when something lasts long enough, it stops being just a product and becomes a kind of journal of the places you've been.
That philosophy fits the Porch pretty well.
The guys talk waxed cotton, field gear, why relationships matter more than simply filling shelves, and the collaborations Ball and Buck chooses because they believe in the people behind the brands—not just the products.
Naturally, there’s also bourbon.
Jason, Bradford and Mark pour Blade and Bow, talk about its connection to the old Stitzel-Weller Distillery, and leave behind a bottle of the Two Guys On A Porch Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel for future clubhouse conversations.
And “clubhouse” may be the best way to describe the new Nashville location. There’s sporting apparel and gear, high-end shotguns and rifles, a barbershop, places to sit and stay awhile—and a completely restored 1981 Jeep Scrambler built in collaboration with Bird Buggy that has enough horsepower to make Bradford reconsider several financial decisions.
Because Ball and Buck isn't really about nostalgia.
It's about taking what was worth preserving from the past, making it work for today, and building something good enough to still matter tomorrow.
Field tested. Quality proven. Stories earned.
