Hong Kong Is Building a Bitcoin Economy

Bitcoin merchant adoption is growing in Hong Kong—but does any of it matter if Bitcoiners refuse to actually spend their sats? Zach Wizenberg is helping turn Bitcoin from something people simply hold into money they can actually use.

In this episode of We Are Satoshi, Zach and I sit down in Hong Kong to talk about what it takes to build a real Bitcoin economy. Zach and Gaelle have helped bring 28 merchantsonboard, while building a Bitcoin point-of-sale system designed to make accepting payments simple for everyday businesses.

Zach makes the case that merchant adoption is ultimately a supply-and-demand problem: getting businesses to accept Bitcoin is only half the equation. If Bitcoiners never spend it, merchants have little reason to keep accepting it—and Bitcoin risks functioning primarily as a speculative asset instead of usable currency.

Bitcoin isn't just something to save. It's money—and money is meant to be used.

If you enjoy conversations with the people actually building the Bitcoin economy, subscribe to We Are Satoshi and share this episode with someone who believes Bitcoin can become more than a store of value.

Connect With Us

Whale Lounge Website: https://www.thewhalelounge.com/

Whale Lounge on X: https://x.com/WhaleLoungeHK

Kyle on X: https://x.com/thekylehuber

Kyle on Instagram: @kylehuber21

Kyle's Website: https://kylehuber.com

Kyle on Nostr: kylehuber@primal.net

Support the POD!

Basic Desktop Miner (US only): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GWGV9R36?maas=maas_adg_api_584437388399636114_static_8_616&ref_=aa_maas&tag=maas&aa_campaignid=weareSatoshi&aa_adgroupid=podcast&aa_creativeid=video-2026-09

15% off at Born to Be Free Online Store: https://oshi.link/C2mHb0

Buy the Daylight Co DC-1: https://buy.daylightcomputer.com/WEARESATOSHI($25 off with
