Former Democratic Unionist Party leader Jeffrey Donaldson has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of 18 historical child sexual abuse offences, including rape. The crimes involved two victims and occurred between 1985 and 2008, long before his arrest in March 2024.

Once one of Northern Ireland's most powerful politicians, Donaldson served as a Westminster MP, led the DUP, and received a knighthood before his reputation collapsed. His wife, Eleanor Donaldson, was also found to have aided his offending in a separate trial of the facts, although she was not criminally convicted.
