She Spent 20 Years Hunting Her Best Friend’s Killer

Sheila Wysocki spent twenty years pursuing justice for the brutal murder of her college roommate, Angie Samota, after police initially stalled the investigation and zeroed in on the wrong suspects. Driven by relentless determination, she became a private investigator and constantly pressured law enforcement to re-examine the dormant case file. Her persistent efforts ultimately forced detectives to locate and test preserved DNA evidence, which exonerated past suspects and linked the crime to a serial rapist named Donald Bess. Bess was subsequently convicted and sentenced to death, bringing a measure of accountability and peace to those affected by the tragedy.
