SEC Scouting Report: South Carolina

South Carolina women's basketball is loaded heading into the 2026-27 season — but are the Gamecocks the team to beat in the SEC and the country?

In this South Carolina scouting report, we take a closer look at Dawn Staley's roster, including superstar Joyce Edwards, potential X-factor Agot Makeer, Tessa Johnson, Ashlyn Watkins, Chloe Kitts and one of the most talented freshman classes in the country.

We break down South Carolina's strengths, biggest questions, ceiling, floor and my bold prediction for the Gamecocks heading into the 2026-27 women's college basketball season.

And there's one freshman I didn't get to in the video: Justine Loubens, a 6-foot-1 guard from France. Loubens joins South Carolina after playing professionally for La Roche Vendée Basket Club. She gives Dawn Staley another intriguing perimeter piece, particularly as a shooter, and could be a longer-term development piece on an incredibly deep roster.

With a loaded returning roster, an elite 2026 recruiting class and another international addition in Loubens, South Carolina has the talent to make a serious run at another SEC championship and national championship.

🏀 Topics covered:
• South Carolina women's basketball 2026-27 roster
• Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks
• Agot Makeer — the X-factor
• South Carolina's freshman recruiting class
• SEC women's basketball• South Carolina's ceiling and floor
• My bold prediction for the Gamecocks
• Can South Carolina win the national championship?

If you love SEC women's basketball, make sure to subscribe to Chalk Talk South: Women's Hoops for scouting reports, interviews, SEC analysis and more.

#SouthCarolinaWomensBasketball #Gamecocks #DawnStaley #SECWomensBasketball #WomensBasketball #CollegeBasketball #JoyceEdwards

Chapters
0:00 Intro
0:36 Recap of Last Season
2:10 Outdoor Exhibition September 27th vs College of Charleston
2:57 Key Losses
4:15 Raven Johnson Moment
5:38 Maddy McDaniel
6:48 Portal Addition and Incoming Freshmen
10:25 X factor
12:32 Biggest Question Mark
14:11 Ceiling vs Floor
16:40 Overall Bold Prediction
17:17 Like, Comment, Share, Subscribe
17:24 Go watch my video on an SEC former Lady Vol Great Alberta “Bird” Auguste

TikTok ✅
Apple Podcasts ✅

SEC Women's Hoops Podcast

#womensbasketball #wbb #womenshoop
