EP225 — WIDA Standards Explained: What They Actually Mean for Your ELL Classroom

EP225 — WIDA Standards Explained: What They Actually Mean for Your ELL Classroomil y a 6 jours15 min

Someone handed you the WIDA Can Do Descriptors, maybe with a sticky note that said "use these for planning," and then they went in a drawer.

That's not your fault. Here's how to actually use them this week, no ACCESS scores required.

In this episode:

• Tell WIDA the test apart from WIDA the standards, and know which one you can use right now

• See what a student can actually do in each domain, instead of stopping at a composite score

• Write language objectives that match a real Level 2 or Level 4, without guessing

• Check mid-lesson whether what you're hearing is Level 2 or Level 3 work

• Pull the one useful takeaway out of ACCESS results when they finally arrive

For ESL and classroom teachers in WIDA states, and in ELPAC, TELPAS, ELPA21, and AZELLA states too.
