Episode 214: What is Homeopathy? History, Origins & How It Works with Manish Luthra
Welcome to the Homeopathy 247 Podcast! In this episode, host Mary Greensmith is joined by homeopath Manish Luthra to dive into the absolute basics and uncover the true history of natural medicine. If you have ever caught yourself asking, "what is homeopathy exactly?" this is the perfect episode for you!
A Journey into Natural Healing Manish shares his personal journey of discovering homeopathy twenty years ago in India. After suffering from severe shoulder and neck pain, a few simple homeopathic drops provided immediate relief. This sparked a lifelong passion. However, as he began talking to others about his new career, he realized a massive public misconception. While nearly everyone claims to know about this practice, they frequently confuse it with herbalism, essential oils, or general naturopathy.
The True Origins of Homeopathy Many people mistakenly believe this healing modality originated in Asia or India. In reality, it is a Western medicine system founded 240 years ago in Germany by Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann.

Materia Medica: The detailed encyclopedia of remedies and their specific healing capabilities. The Repertory: A systematic index of symptoms to help practitioners find the exact match for a patient. A Global, Green Medicine Did you know that the World Health Organization recognizes homeopathy as the second-largest medicine system in the world? From its early boom in America during the 1800s to its massive, government-funded presence in India today, it is a truly global practice. Manish beautifully summarizes it as a "green medicine"—it uses minimum doses, is incredibly gentle, is not tested on animals, and is even used successfully in veterinary care and farming.
Homeopathy focuses on the law of individualization. It looks at your
