Overcoming Our Disabilities | Uplifting Podcasts
Listen to episode 1165 of the Inspirational Living podcast: Overcoming Our Disabilities. Edited and adapted from The Book of Courage by William James Dawson.
Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Nothing in the long story of human endeavor is more wonderful than the complete conquest of physical disability made by great spirits. It seems probable that Alexander, Caesar, and Napoleon — each a world-conqueror — were what we should now call epileptics. William of Orange was racked by asthma, and General Wolfe, the heroic conqueror of Quebec, was of a frail and ailing constitution. Beethoven was stone deaf. And Parkman, the most picturesque of American historians, could only read for an hour a day.
In all such cases, the restless tenant of the body was visibly at work — visibly and mightily. Deafness, blindness, sickness — all these daunting deprivations have been overcome, treated as though they were not, under the command of a firm and dauntless spirit — a divine power of will.
