Walk by Faith not by Sight

From the lectionary scriptures for this week, we discuss Exodus 17 where the Israelites quarrel with Moses and test the LORD because of being thirsty in the desert of Sin. The LORD provides a source of water from the rock at Horeb so that the people may drink. We discuss our response to life's challenges with either faith or grumbling. We then transition to Phillippians 2:1-13 and discuss humble submission to the LORD as exemplified by Yeshua/Jesus who "emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, assuming human likeness. And being found in appearance as human, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death- even death on a cross.” Paul exhorts us to ”work on your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure."
