Running from New York City to Boston with Tom Hanlon

This week I had an awesome conversation with Tom Hanlon. Tom is a former college miler turned ultra runner who has thrown down some wild efforts in his two years in the sport. We talk about his recent 244 mile effort running from New York City to Boston in 72 hours and 50 minutes to set the FKT and raise over $14,000 for the Jason R. Flood Memorial Foundation. Tom breaks down the entire journey from starting at midnight in Times Square, battling exhaustion and sleep deprivation, and dealing with the high and lows to push all the way to the Boston Marathon finish line. We also dive into his quick rise in ultra running, including a second place finish at the Vermont 100, placing 17th (7:16min/mi pace over 50 miles) at JFK 50, and his experience running Western States. Finally, we chat about balancing high level competition while keeping the love for the sport and big adventures.
HOW TO FIND TOM:

https://www.instagram.com/tomhanlon_ultra/https://www.youtube.com/@TomHanlonUltra

JASON R. Its a high stack height but I like that for running fast down steep descents. The Speedgoat 7 is my favorite version so far. It's lighter, and slightly reduced stack from the old version and I have been loving it.

La Sportiva Prodigio Pro: rei.pxf.io/0GB7gP OR https://amzn.to/3T1u0Qi

My top pick for a super shoe in technical terrain. Light, fast, and has really good grip. Mid tier stack so fairly stable but also has some cush to absorb
