HEART, HEAD, AND ENDURANCE

HEART, HEAD, AND ENDURANCE

There is a connection between how we handle ordinary things and how we handle spiritual responsibility.

Now, we can take this too far. Not every dirty kitchen means someone is spiritually immature. But patterns matter.

If a person continually ignores simple responsibilities, rationalizes poor stewardship, or refuses to correct what they know is wrong, that can eventually show up in ministry.

Small Things Reveal Big Things

Jesus said:

“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much.”

— Luke 16:10 NKJV

That’s why servanthood, stewardship, and communication are foundational.

If you can’t learn to serve people, manage what has been entrusted to you, and communicate well, you’re not ready to manage a larger ministry responsibility.

Faithfulness comes before promotion.

Put the Right People in the Right Places

A good leader doesn’t put somebody in a position simply because they’re family, a friend, or because they love the Lord.

You look at:

The heart — Do they love God and people?

The head — Do they understand what they’re doing?

The sacrifice — Are they willing to serve when it costs them?

The endurance — Can they remain faithful when things get difficult?

Not everybody is called to do everything.

Don’t put someone who hates technology in charge of technology. Don’t put someone who has no aptitude for a particular task over that task.

Put your aces in their places.

The right person in the right place can flourish. The wrong person in the wrong place can create problems for everybody.

Endurance Tells the Story

You can teach somebody a technical skill.

But you can’t manufacture character overnight.

The real question is:

Who can keep their composure when things get hard?

Who is still there five years later?

Ten years later?

Still faithful. Still serving. Still teachable. Still loving people.

That’s the person I want to invest in.

Don’t Muzzle the Ox

And when you find faithful people, don’t take advantage of them.<
