What do you do when you see a sign that says, “Beware of dog”? The logical thing to do is assume the sign is accurate and that it’s there for your safety; therefore, you should beware of said dog. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need to see the dog or experience the danger it’s warning me about before deciding whether to heed the sign. I’d rather err on the side of caution, trust what the sign says, and respond accordingly.

That’s where we find Noah. God warned him about events to come, though they were still unseen. God told Noah that he would send a flood to bring judgment upon the world because of its sin and rebellion against God. This flood would destroy everyone and everything.

But Noah had never seen anything like what God was warning him about. He couldn’t physically see the events God had described since they hadn’t happened yet. But he didn’t need to see it to believe God. Noah chose to trust what God had said and respond accordingly by faith.

As we look at Noah in Hebrews 11 this week, the question for us is: Will we trust God even when we can’t see what he is doing?

When I can’t see what God is doing, I will…

…trust him still (Genesis 6:1-10)
