On Tuesday morning, I interviewed New York Times bestselling author Lars Anderson about his new book, “BRADY: An American Story and the Price of Greatness” (Celadon Books, September 29, 2026), focusing on the central question of what Tom Brady was willing to sacrifice to be the best.

Anderson discusses the book’s chronological approach, the unexpected global fixation on a Daily Mail excerpt about the Brady–Gisele divorce (which he says wasn’t his intent), and his effort to avoid harming the children.

He traces Brady’s childhood insecurities in San Mateo, California, a late start in football at Serra High, his early obsession with film study, and the influence of his father and sisters.

We also cover Brady’s Michigan choice, toughness, limited access to Brady for reporting, and Brady’s relationship with Bill Belichick, including Belichick’s early belief in him and key moments around Brady leaving New England.
