Kwanzmas | EP. 39 | The DCMWG Show

This week on DCMWG, Mona opens the show by checking in with the cousins and responding to some of their recent thoughts on guests joining the podcast (0:55). From there, she gets into Shaquille O’Neal’s latest honorary law enforcement badge and his long-running collection of honorary titles from departments across the country (3:20). Next up, Nicki Minaj’s conversation with Lara Trump sparks a discussion about the rapper’s increasingly vocal embrace of Republican politics (9:35). Mona then turns to streamer Reggie and a deeply personal viral moment that divided the internet, leading to a broader conversation about vulnerability, trauma, and the space Black men have to openly share their experiences (13:15). Back in Philly, rapper Kur finds himself in a messy dispute over a paid feature (21:45), before Mona breaks down the latest developments surrounding the Cornell Seven and the possibility of charges stemming from a grand jury investigation (30:05). She also gets into the Philadelphia teacher accused of falsely presenting herself as Black and Palestinian for years (39:00), followed by the latest on Sidney Starr (43:50). Things then move to podcast drama as JBP’s Queenz Flip and former co-host Rory cross paths at Girls Love Karaoke, resulting in an altercation that quickly became a topic online (45:41). Mona and Phelps switch gears with a debate over AI, its growing influence, and what the technology could mean for society moving forward (51:15), before discussing a new Florida law and how publicly claiming gang affiliations online could potentially come back to haunt you (55:15). Later, Mona gets into Kwanzaa and the very different ways her family and Zack’s family grew up celebrating the holiday (56:45). She wraps the episode with upcoming show dates before closing things out with Nail Cam (1:00:35).
