Well… This Changes The Conversation
Things are starting to get interesting around Eberechi Eze at Arsenal… 🔴⚪
There’s already a growing conversation around Eze’s performances, his contribution to this Arsenal team and, incredibly, whether he’s actually good enough. But with Eze playing just 70 minutes of Premier League football this season, are some of those conclusions coming far too early?
In today’s video, I’ve done a deeper dive into the numbers behind Eberechi Eze at Arsenal — his goals, assists, performances, position and what Mikel Arteta is actually asking him to do.
Eze was Arsenal’s joint-second highest Premier League goalscorer last season, while finishing the campaign with 10 goals and 6 assists in all competitions. That isn’t a million miles away from the 14 goals and 11 assists he produced during his standout season at Crystal Palace.
But there is one statistic that really caught my attention…
Eze’s output from the left wing has been completely different. At Crystal Palace he registered 0 goals and 0 assists when playing there, while for Arsenal last season he managed just 1 goal and 1 assist from the left. With Arsenal continuing to use him in that position, I ask whether we’re actually seeing the best version of Eberechi Eze — or whether Mikel Arteta needs to find a different role for him.
I also look at the wider conversation around Arsenal’s attack. Despite some criticism, Bukayo Saka is currently the highest-rated player in the Premier League, with Martin Ødegaard third, giving Arsenal two players inside the top three.
Elsewhere, we discuss:
Who is Arsenal’s most UNDROPPABLE player — David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães or Declan Rice?
Ezri Konsa’s aggression, his recent penalty and why Arteta may need to help him find the right balance.
How Gabriel Magalhães is evidence that Arteta can develop that side of a defender’s game.
Why Mikel Arteta’s in-game management and substitutions deserve more credit.
