Boxer turnover rises to R24.1bn & Why higher bond yields aren’t rattling equity markets
Stephen Grootes speaks to Boxer CEO Marek Masojada about the retailer’s interim results, with turnover rising 6.3% to R24.1 billion and trading profit increasing 8.1% to R1 billion. Despite constrained consumer spending and continued selling-price deflation, Boxer grew headline earnings by 9.1% and opened its 600th store.
In other interviews, John Stopford, Head of Multi-Asset Income at Ninety One, about why global share markets have remained resilient despite a sharp rise in government bond yields. Higher yields typically put pressure on equities by increasing the cost of capital and offering investors an alternative to shares, but strong growth expectations, AI and data-centre investment, and robust corporate profits have helped offset that pressure.
