For Riley, hope looks like people learning what they’re capable of—together.

In this episode of The Story Place, Riley reflects on growing up at the Y and the people who saw their potential during a time when school didn’t always come easily. Sometimes, having someone say “I see you, and I know you can do this” made all the difference.

Today, Riley gets to create those same moments for others. From watching a child proudly discover that the boat they built actually floats, to seeing kids teach, encourage, and support one another, Riley shares why having a safe place to try something new—and sometimes fail before trying again—matters.

And it all points to something Riley believes we need more of: community. A place where kids, adults, and seniors can come together across the things that might otherwise divide us, experience one another, and belong.

It’s a conversation about being seen, discovering what you’re capable of, and creating the kind of community our future needs.

🎧 Listen now and follow The Story Place for more YMCA stories.

Subscribe and share your YMCA story with us at Stories@ymca-snoco.org.
