Darkman

This week we look back at Sam Raimi's darkly comedic superhero film Darkman. Released in 1990 and starring Liam Neeson and Frances McDormand, Darkman tells the story of a brilliant scientist who exacts revenge on the gangsters who brutalized him and left him for dead. Inspired by the classic Universal Monsters films and taking inspiration from The Shadow and Batman, Darkman is a unique take on the superhero genre and would pave the way for Raimi's Spiderman trilogy of the early 2000s.
