EDDIE REACTS TO MCG TURF AFTER NFL, Freo v Sydney Preview & NRL Semis

Abbey Gelmi joins Eddie McGuire for a massive episode of Gold Sport, with AFL preliminary final fever, the NRL finals, the return of the NBL and a celebration of one of Australian sport’s greatest voices. The show kicks off at the MCG, where MCC CEO Stuart Fox joins Eddie and Abbey following the historic NFL clash.

Fox reveals the extraordinary work that went into transforming the ground back for AFL football and getting the famous venue ready for Hawthorn and Brisbane’s blockbuster preliminary final. From there, attention turns to a huge weekend of AFL finals.

Eddie and Abbey break down Sydney’s chances of pulling off a massive upset against Fremantle, what could decide Hawthorn’s clash with Brisbane, and Eddie makes his call on the two teams he believes will reach the AFL Grand Final. Basil Zempilas joins the show for a special tribute to the late, great Dennis Cometti ahead of Centimetre Perfect. Basil reflects on working alongside one of Australian sport’s most iconic commentators, Dennis’ legendary wit and the incredible legacy he left behind in broadcasting.

The NBL is also back, with legendary coach Brian Goorjian joining Eddie and Abbey to preview the new season. Goorjian talks about the Sydney Kings, the continued rise of Australian basketball and some of the stars set to make their mark on the competition.

Plus, Eddie and Abbey turn their attention to the NRL finals, unpack the extraordinary HYROX story that went viral around the world, revisit the debate surrounding Sydney Sweeney and women in sport, and make their AFL and NRL tips for the weekend.

As always, Eddie and Abbey wrap up the biggest headlines, talking points and debates from across Australian sport.
