America's Most Decorated Unit Volunteered Out of US Prison Camps

Executive Order 9066 put roughly 120,000 Americans of Japanese descent behind barbed wire with

the machine gun posts pointed inward. No charges, no trial. Many of the men in those camps

volunteered for the US Army anyway, and the unit they formed became the most decorated in

American military history for its size and length of service.

Chris Cheng spent six years researching them. He joins us to talk about his new novel, The
