Pastor Chad McDonald

Next week we will begin walking through Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. (Actually, it was his second letter to them, but more on that next week). The church at Corinth was a deeply troubled church. Paul wrote more to them than to any other church because they had more issues. In many ways, you could describe them as the “anti-church.”

Before we begin that study, I thought it would be appropriate to consider a passage written to Paul’s favorite church, the church at Philippi. Philippians is my favorite book of the New Testament, and at the heart of this letter is a passage that I believe most clearly defines the Christian life (Philippians 3:1-16).

What does it mean to follow Christ? What does it look like for a person to trust Christ and grow in Christ? What we will find from Paul is that, while each of our journeys will have different nuances, the essence and attitude of true Christian believers should be the same. There will obviously be differences in our individual journeys, but the heart of what it means to follow Christ should not be different from one believer to another. In fact, Paul says that if we have a different attitude, the Lord will correct us.

I pray you will join us this weekend. Pastor Luke will fill pulpit for me on Saturday night and lead you through a study of John chapter one. I got a preview of his message this week. It’s a powerful message! Whether you attend Saturday night or Sunday morning, it will be a great weekend of worship at LBC.
