Forgiveness Takes One. Reconciliation Takes Two. | LIFEchurch Sunday Message | Rich Greene
Esau came toward Jacob with 400 men. Jacob had taken the birthright that belonged to his brother and then stayed away for decades. When they finally met, Jacob bowed seven times. Esau ran to him, embraced him, and both brothers wept.
Watching from the back of the family was a young Joseph. Rich points out that Joseph would one day need that same picture of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation when the brothers who sold him into slavery stood before him.
In the final week of Getting Over It, Rich Greene holds these two reunions beside Paul's command to forgive as Christ forgave us. One person can release a debt. Reconciliation also needs the person who caused harm to repent. When repair is impossible or contact would be unsafe, forgiveness can still send the hurt away without reopening the door.
