EP 48: How I Started Quilting (And Why I Bought a Longarm)
Welcome to Loose Threads & Stitches — your calm corner of the quilting world, where we talk about the real stuff, the fun stuff, and everything the quilt community is thinking but not always saying. I'm Christen from ISeeStarsQuilting.com. Let's talk.
Today I'm sharing something I don't tell often — my actual origin story. It starts with two toddlers fighting over one blanket on movie night (true story), and somehow leads to a graphic designer with zero quilting background ending up with a longarm machine parked in her dining room. 😅
I'm walking through the whole thing: the Joann fabric run for my kids' first flannel "quilts," how my design degree quietly shaped the way I think about color and composition, the moment I saw a longarm machine for the first time and realized it was basically drawing with thread, and the decision that turned this from a hobby into ISeeStarsQuilting.
I also get into why I'll never call myself an "expert" (forever student, always), why community matters more than any tutorial ever could, and how the Stitch Sister Inner Circle came to be.
If you've ever wondered how a "quilty bestie" actually gets started — grab your coffee and settle in, Star Stitchers. This one's personal.
