Where housing and childcare eat up the most income

Paying for housing and childcare can eat up more than half of the median U.S. family’s income, a new report finds. The least affordable metro areas in the country for working families with kids are Los Angeles and New York City, where the median cost of childcare plus the notoriously high cost of housing devour 95% or more of the median income.
