<p>Mishna Yomi - Ohalos 8:5-6 - By R&#39; Shloimie Friedman</p><p>L&#39;uli Nishmas Etta Ahuva bas Yaakov</p><p><br></p><p>Oct 6, 2026</p><p>Tue</p><p>25 Tishrei 5787</p><p>Ohalos 8:5-6</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Mishnah Ohalos 8:5</strong></p><p><strong>משנה אהלות ח׳:ה׳</strong></p><p>אֵלּוּ לֹא מְבִיאִין וְלֹא חוֹצְצִין. הַזְּרָעִים וְהַיְרָקוֹת הַמְחֻבָּרִים לַקַּרְקַע, חוּץ מִן הַיְרָקוֹת שֶׁמָּנוּ, וְכִפַּת הַבָּרָד, וְהַשֶּׁלֶג, וְהַכְּפוֹר, וְהַגְּלִיד, וְהַמֶּלַח, וְהַדּוֹלֵג מִמָּקוֹם לְמָקוֹם, וְהַקּוֹפֵץ מִמָּקוֹם לְמָקוֹם, וְהָעוֹף הַפּוֹרֵחַ, וְטַלִּית הַמְנַפְנֶפֶת, וּסְפִינָה שֶׁהִיא שָׁטָה עַל פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם. קָשַׁר אֶת הַסְּפִינָה בְּדָבָר שֶׁהוּא יָכוֹל לְהַעֲמִידָהּ, כָּבַשׁ אֶת הָאֶבֶן עַל גַּבֵּי הַטַּלִּית, מְבִיאָה אֶת הַטֻּמְאָה. רַבִּי יוֹסֵי אוֹמֵר, הַבַּיִת שֶׁבַּסְּפִינָה אֵינוֹ מֵבִיא אֶת הַטֻּמְאָה:</p><p><strong>Synopsis from R&#39; Shloimie</strong></p><p>He calls this the fourth category, לא מביאין ולא חוצצין: things that are not an אהל at all. זרעים and ירקות attached to the ground don&#39;t count, unlike the ירקות of משנה א׳ such as the אירוס, קיסום, ירקות חמור and דלעת יונית, which last; these don&#39;t, and since they are not a דבר המתקיים they are not an אהל.</p><p>Likewise hail, snow, the kinds of ice, and salt: as the רא״ש explains, they melt and don&#39;t last, so they are not an אהל.</p><p>He notes that the באר היטב at the start of הלכות סוכה brings from the גנת ורדים that snow on the סכך is not a חציצה, and a ראיה is brought from our mishnah. But an אהל in this פרק must be strong enough to hold a מעזיבה, while for סוכה even a thin סדין is a חציצה between the סכך and the שמים, so the two are not תלוי זה בזה.</p><p>Following the רא״ש, דולג is said of a חיה and קופץ of a person. These, the flying bird, the flapping טלית and a boat floating on the water are all moving, so they are not an אהל.</p><p>But a boat tied to something that can hold it, or a טלית weighed down by a stone, is מביא את הטומאה. He notes the גמרא in שבת brings this. תוספות there reads it as our mishnah: the issue is movement, so the שלשלת של ברזל is לאו דוקא ברזל, just anything that holds it firm. רש״י learns the סוגיא differently, with ברזל דוקא because of חרב הרי הוא כחלל, a גירסא that תוספות removes.</p><p>On ר׳ יוסי, that the בית שבספינה is not מביא את הטומאה, the רא״ש gives two reasons: either it is while the boat is moving, or it cannot stand in a רוח מצויה.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Mishnah Ohalos 8:6</strong></p><p><strong>משנה אהלות ח׳:ו׳</st
