Here it is in the פתח with its opening facing outside, and the כזית מן המת is under it or on top of it, outside.</p><p>He notes that משנה א׳ must be speaking where it is less than a טפח off the ground, since משנה ב׳ deals with a טפח. It is also מחולחלת, as משנה ג׳ says: it has holes the bees go in and out of, stuffed with קש but not tightly, as the רא״ש says.</p><p>So כל שהוא כנגד הזית is טמא; the גירסא is really תחתיה וגבה, meaning directly under it and on top of it is טמא. What is not opposite the זית, תוכה, and the בית are טהור. Simply, תוכה is טהור even כנגד הזית, because of the הלכה of מוקף צמיד פתיל: anything within the כוורת is טהור.</p><p>He notes one גירסא reads כל שאינו כנגד הזית תוכה טהור, but the רא״ש&#39;s גירסא is ותוכה, so three things are טהור: what is not כנגד הזית, תוכה even כנגד הזית, and the בית. According to that, the reason תוכה is טהור is מוקף צמיד פתיל.</p><p>Even so, above and below are טמא: with the טומאה on top, what is under it is טמא as טומאה רצוצה that goes through, because the כוורת is a כלי, and a כלי cannot be an אהל. He notes that in the earlier פרק the מקור for this was always the כוורת: since it is a כלי, it is not חוצץ בפני הטומאה.</p><p>He adds that he is simplifying; the רא״ש raises a קושיא on why what is in the כוורת is טהור, and answers יש לחלק.</p><p>If the טומאה is in the בית, אין טמא אלא הבית.
