Sixteen-year-old Trenny Lynn Gibson vanished on October 8, 1976, during a high school field trip to Clingmans Dome (now Kuwohi) in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While hiking with classmates, she walked ahead along the trail, rounded a bend, and vanished without a trace, prompting extensive search efforts that uncovered no definitive sign of her whereabouts.
