Taoism, Wu Wei & Qigong Basics with Joaquin Escobar — Part 1 of 6 | Classics Rotation

Holistic trainer and Esoteric Wisdom YouTuber Joaquin Escobar, whom the host met at a conference in Sedona, explains how he understands Taoism (or Daoism), from the idea that the Dao cannot be defined to wu wei: going with the flow and not holding on to the past or to trauma. Joaquin says the Tao/Dao spelling confusion comes from translation, and divides the tradition into traditional Chinese shamanism, philosophical Taoism and holistic practices such as traditional Chinese medicine, Qigong, Tai Chi and Kung Fu. He illustrates wu wei with the Chinese story of a man whose broken leg keeps him out of a war, and compares not clinging to the past with Buddhist non-attachment. Asked about fate versus free will, he describes 12-year luck cycles in Chinese astrology (he expects his 30th year to be a harder one) and compares reading such patterns to counting cards or checking a weather forecast, drawing on Ben Davidson's space-weather cycles. The host says she stays skeptical of patterns but notes how precisely eclipses can be predicted, both float the idea that we may live in a simulation, and Joaquin suggests some elites time events using numerology and astrology. When the host asks him to explain Qigong as if to a five-year-old, he describes the body as a biomagnetic battery that collects energy into the lower dantian, compares the three dantians to chakras, mentions a teacher who worked in sets of three, six and nine, and calls Qigong an energy-cultivation practice similar to yoga. He closes by saying his purpose is to help people shed trauma, which he equates with karma, so they are not stuck in thought loops, while accepting that you cannot help everyone.
