REAL WITH OURSELVES

Most of us think we're above average — a better driver, a better person, a better spouse than most. Statistically, that can't be true for everyone. So why do we all believe it about ourselves?

This message uses King David's story as the warning. Here was a man after God's own heart who let comfort turn into complacency, complacency into sin, and sin into cover-up — all while telling himself he was still okay. It's a picture of how easily we can lose touch with our own hearts when we stop paying attention.

The turning point comes through conviction — and the danger of what happens when we ignore it long enough to stop feeling it at all. True freedom doesn't come from cleaning up behavior on the outside. It comes from being honest about what's happening on the inside, and bringing that honesty to God instead of hiding it.

This episode closes with an invitation to communion — a moment to get real with ourselves, and real with Him.
