PUT ON SACKCLOTH AND LAMENT
That was a “let's-get-right-into-it" start to our new series in Joel last Sunday, wasn’t it?! Hard-hitting, for sure. And it doesn’t ease up too much for the second message on Joel 1:13-20, as we look at what it means to be truly repentant. Sorrow, desperate prayer, and a proper fear of judgment are all in play. But so is the confidence that we can go to our God with our dilemma. The passage seems dark and difficult but brims with hope, as the prophet reminds us of God’s grace and mercy, praying, “To you, O LORD, I call.” We have no other recourse. And he is there waiting for us to approach him. What love he has for his people! I can’t wait to work through that with you on Sunday. See you online or in person.

Repentance is agreeing with God and turning from my way to his.
The Bible is very easy to understand. But we pretend to be unable to understand it because we know that the minute we understand, we are obliged to act accordingly.
– Søren Kierkegaard
When my sin against God is brought to light, I’ll repent…
…with deep sorrow (v. 13)
