God Is Not Finished Yet. That is the word Rev Ross Mungovan brought to St Paul's and St Barnabas on Wednesday 30 September 2026, the 175th anniversary of the founding of the church. Preaching from Haggai 2:1-9, Ross addressed a community looking back with gratitude and forward with faith. The prophet Haggai spoke to returning exiles who looked at the ruins of Solomon's Temple and wept. God's answer was not nostalgia but commission: be strong and work, for I am with you. The silver is mine and the gold is mine. Nothing needed to complete his purposes is outside his reach. The sermon moves through three points: we are not the first to lament lost glory; we are called to active obedience grounded in divine presence; and God grows what he promises in places that look impossible. Along the way, the story of Sexton Joseph Marshall carrying an incendiary bomb out of the church during the Second World War is told, and the missionary character of this congregation across 175 years is honoured. Recorded at the 175th Anniversary Holy Communion service, 11:30am, St Paul's and St Barnabas, Belfast.
