At just 18 years old, Ava Calhoun is taking a microphone to college campuses and city streets to ask strangers a simple question: When do you think life begins? And remarkably, she’s actually changing minds. Several people who entered conversations with her holding pro-choice views have walked away persuaded of the pro-life position.

In this episode, Ava joins me to break down what she’s learned from having face-to-face conversations about abortion: how to ask good questions, how to respond to the arguments she hears over and over, and how to remain calm and respectful when the person on the other side is hostile. We also talk about why curiosity can be more effective than trying to score a “gotcha,” how to handle questions you don’t know how to answer, and why Christians shouldn’t measure the success of a conversation solely by whether someone changes their mind on the spot.

Then we put those strategies to the test by reacting to viral TikToks making some of today’s most common arguments for abortion—including claims that the Bible never condemns abortion, that life begins at first breath, and that Christians and pastors can be pro-choice.
