College sports have changed dramatically, but having new rules surrounding player compensation doesn't mean programs should be allowed to ignore every existing eligibility standard and simply wait to see whether somebody can stop them.

That's where this conversation gets interesting.

Some programs appear increasingly willing to test the limits because the NCAA hasn't always demonstrated an ability to consistently enforce its own rules. The mentality becomes simple: why follow a rule if nobody has proven there will be consequences for breaking it?

The SEC can't allow that mentality to become the standard.
