What Every British Patriot Needs To Know

Suella Braverman, playing the race card, supports the so-called English patriots, by suggesting that Black people can not be English by ancestry! E.g. they are by implication not really English, Hence, second tier Englishmen or women.

In this week's Black Spy Podcast's - Black history month special - I pose Mrs Braverman and the so-called English Patriots the following:

Firstly, as regards being English, why is Braverman only mentioning that people of colour can't be English. So conversely, is she suggesting that if you are not of colour, questioning one's Englishness would be incongruous. Meaning, Englishness is colour coded.

Secondly if Braverman has any understanding of English history, she would know that a sizable number of black people lived in what is now England 300 years prior to the arrival of the Germanic English progenitors - the Angles & Saxons! in ca 490 AD. So, why would Braverman suggest this when the scientific reconstruction of Britain's oldest skeletal inhabitant -  Cheddar Man – shows he had dark skin, dark hair, and blue eyes. An analysis based on DNA extracted from his 10,000-year-old skeleton.

What the DNA Shows

·        Scientists from the Natural History Museum and University College London extracted DNA from the Cheddar Man skeleton found in Somerset, England.

·        Genetic markers showed he possessed the combination of dark skin, dark curly hair, and pale or blue eyes.

·        He belonged to a group of early Western Hunter-Gatherers who lived across Europe after the Ice Age.
