I went to a benefit as my friend Eileen's date, a little under the weather, and when they ran a game where the winner took home a diamond bracelet, I bought two chances and then almost handed them to Eileen because I was tired and a little scared to play in front of a room of strangers.

She said okay. And then she didn't move. She looked at me, nudged me, and said come on.
