The Air Force Set a Goal for Fewer White Officers | Ep. 290

President Trump signed Executive Order 14151 on his first day back in office. The order shut down federal DEI offices, froze equity grants, and ended the minority set-aside schemes where a front owner holds 51% of a company on paper. Rep. Sarah McBride wants the old system back.

Peter Schweizer and Eric Eggers track what changed. In 2022 the Air Force set a goal to cut white officer applicants from 80% to 67.5%, and Gen. CQ Brown co-signed the memo. Once the quotas ended, all five active-duty branches hit their FY2025 recruiting goals. At Ivy Plus schools, Black enrollment fell 25% after race-conscious admissions ended, while Black freshman enrollment jumped at the University of Mississippi and LSU. United Airlines set a goal of 50% women and people of color for its pilot academy. The FAA now requires airlines to certify merit-based pilot hiring.

The episode closes on the federal search of Rep. Ilhan Omar's home and why a colorblind standard means equal scrutiny for every public official.
