Manners and Civics? Lessons from The American Revolution

Here is our special for our 250 year anniversary of the American Revolution. Here are some related things to think about in terms of your children's learning. How are manners and civics related? Character and government? These are things that we seldom think about today, but are vital. They were the root of the success of our culture and our nation's founding. Yet, almost unknown today.

BTW, why did our American Revolution "work" and the French Revolution did not? Was it not character, principles, and structure rooted in the Reformed reading of the Bible? Yes! Manners (how one behaves) and civics (how one orders political life) came from the Bible in the American Revolution, already tested in Protestant communities.

Consider these videos and articles. Please watch them with your children (age appropriate. Young Washington and the Civilian Defense intro are bloody.)

Then, consider encouraging your children with their own self-improvement projects. Talk about this at your church or club.
