The Nielson Show - October 16th, 2026 - Hour 2

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston opened today's guest lineup, offering his reaction to a rare sight at Rogers Place—a non-sellout crowd for the Oilers' matchup against the Utah Mammoth. Johnston then evaluated the visitor's side, weighing in on whether Utah is a legitimate contender and assessing the wild rumor surrounding a potential move for Connor Hellebuyck. The conversation shifted to Connor McDavid's surging ice time early this season, as well as the ongoing organizational conundrum in Detroit. Finally, Chris shared his perspective on Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Jim Hiller's decision to bench rookie sensation Gavin McKenna midway through last night's game.

After Chris, we got into The Fan Zone for Northern Gauge. The Oilers did not sell out last night's game… what are your thoughts?

We then gave our Early Bird Bet presented by Play Alberta.

In the middle of hour two, Marshall Ferguson joined the fellas to give a massive preview in CFL Week 20.

Hour two was capped off with some MMMMMM That's Good presented by The Italian Centre Shop. Nothing better than some Friday night football with the Elks having a chance to clinch the home game for the Western Conference Final. Now MMMMMM, that's good.
