Interview with Tom Wood: 40 Years as a Senior Detective and Author

In this episode, I’m joined by one of my real true crime heroes in Tom Wood, a retired senior police officer who spent almost 40 years in policing, working on some of Scotland’s most significant murder investigations.

Tom has worked on some of Scotland’s most infamous murders and was Officer in Overall Command of a national investigation into the murders of five young Scottish women in the 1970s, including the deaths of Edinburgh girls Helen Scott and Christine Eadie, the notorious ‘Worlds End Murders’, which he wrote about in his book that was published in 2024.

Tom is now a successful true crime author, sharing his experiences and knowledge through his writing. And as you’ll discover, he is a brilliant storyteller, sharing his experience and fascinating insights into the realities of investigating serious crime. We had far too little time to cover everything I wanted to ask him, but I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and could happily have carried on for hours.
