Ep 14: Productive Avoidance: When Working Hard Keeps You From Moving Forward
What if avoidance doesn’t look like doing nothing?
What if it looks like working incredibly hard?
In this episode of Unshakeable Belief, Monica Azoulay continues the September investigation into avoidance by examining one of its hardest forms to recognize: productive avoidance.
For high-capacity people, avoidance may not look like missed deadlines, ignored responsibilities, or a lack of motivation. It can look like researching, planning, organizing, revising, learning, solving problems, taking care of everyone else, and getting an extraordinary amount done.
The question isn’t whether those behaviors are good or bad.
The question is what they’re doing.
Sometimes preparation genuinely improves the work. But sometimes preparation becomes protection—because as long as we’re researching, refining, planning, or perfecting, we don’t have to cross the line into vulnerability.
We don’t have to send it.
Publish it.
Make the decision.
Have the conversation.
Ask for help.
