The Vibes Are A Different World

In this episode, I’m taking you on a deep dive into the music that helped make the iconic series, “A Different World” what it was within African American culture. I wanted to take this musical journey of this iconic show in light of the sequel series on Netflix. The OG series ran from 1987 to 1993 telling the story of a fictional HBCU (Historical Black College & University) and within those years, the show explored different issues of Black culture and community and at times through the lens of musical and dance. And we’re exploring the episodes and moments that also connects with how Black music is foundational to HBCU students and campus life.
